A New Year's message from the WI Crew
As part of our New Year's resolution to bring you ever better quality control, the Waffle Irons would like to announce a fairly large change in the WI rules:
First, we would like to announce that we will no longer be approving any EAC rips from versions prior to EAC 0.99pb4. After much discussion, we have come to the conclusion that these older logs simply do not have enough information to give us the same level of security that newer versions of EAC do. EAC has upgraded, and so too have our standards.
In addition, we are now going to require that all rips made with EAC 1.0 or later include the checksum at the bottom of each log. This is a new option, added only since version 1.0, that adds a further level of security to your rip, much like our requirement to enable AccurateRip. The option can be found under the Tools tab in EAC Options. See this (image) for reference. Please note that a few EAC 1.0 rips that have logs with no checksums were previously approved; these will remain approved. Also of note: because of this new checksum rule, we will not approve any 1.0 rip that has been log edited to remove personal info from the save path. Please refrain from saving to a personal folder from now on.
Lastly, we would also like to inform you that we are no longer going to be approving XLD rips unless they are made with XLD Verison 125.0 or higher. All versions of XLD 125.0+ incorporate a newly written, better ripping engine. Please see Symmetry1618's official XLD guide for details on setting up this new feature. Again, all previously approved XLD rips will remain approved.
The Waffle Irons and the rest of staff would like to wish you all a happy New Year's and hope you stay safe this holiday evening (we wouldn't want you making any regrettable uploads now would we?)
