【Linuxtracker】Wait times are coming...
I hate to break it to everyone, but wait times are coming to LT....
The linuxtracker.org server costs around $80 a month to maintain. Some months we're able to cover that from the ads (mostly google ads alone) and some months (like January) we're not. That puts us in a bind when it comes to hosting (the host wants to get paid or they cut the server off, we need the server on to run the ads to pay the host... you can see the cycle )
So, we're looking to other avenues. Currently, anyone can visit the site and download whatever they want as soon as its uploaded. Guests, Members, the Pope, there's currently no wait time for downloading. Well, that will be changing shortly.
Moving on from April 1st, Guests will have a 48 hour waiting time before they are able to download new torrents, regular members will have 24 hours worth of waiting time before they can (see it already pays to be a member).
Of course, there are ways around this... if you donate $10 a year, you'll be elevated to VIP status for two months (for ad free browsing) and then Super User for the other 10 which will do away with the wait times. In addition, you could upload and have a ratio that entitles you to Super User status by sheer awesomeness. Either way you and linuxtracker.org win.
Those that donate before April 1st will receive VIP status for the whole year.
